B-17 in work

Over two hundred hours spent building and will be finished in about 50 more hours. The model is the 1/48 th scale Monogram kit from a thousand years ago with the complete after market interior built over a period of one year.

About the Tomcat

The F-14 build is for a friend that flew the aircraft I modeled. A 1/32 scale Tomcat from Tamiya that took 300 hours to build and was delivered to the customer and friend last January. The pictures show the final product. The cockpit is after market from Meteor as are the exhaust burner cans. This was a requirement as the Tamiya Tomcat is an F-14A and the aircraft 'Viris" flew was the B version. The decals are all custom made on my computer and printed on clear decal film for transfer to the model. The base is cabinet grade plywood stained with a water based cherry stain and the carrier deck is painted with flat black mixed with fine silica. The white lines are airbrushed on and the 131 pad eyes are individually cut out with a rotary tool and painted gray. Lastly I used ship modeling chain to simulate the tie down chain holding the model to the deck.
